Our goal is to educate and cultivate our future community leaders by combining age appropriate customized learning with strong character values.
We provide a customized education, adjusting the program to the needs of each student. Children will be able to work at a pace that allows them the ability to advance when they have mastered a skill or slow down when they need more assistance. Skill acquisition will be determined by documentation of mastery of kindergarten, grade one, and second grade Florida State Standards. Our goal is to have all kindergartners complete the school year with most grade one skills accomplished.
Our Elementary School hours are 8:30am-3:30pm. Before and after school care is available for free from 7:30am-8:30am and 3pm-5:30pm (4:30pm on Friday). We also offer Summer Camps through the off-months of school.
We love to create many wonderful experiences for our children. Each month, we either have a community speaker coming into the elementary school teaching about their non-profit and how we can help advance their cause or we are off-site on field trips. Each year we go on different field trips based on our Science and Social Studies theme. Over the years these trips have included the Santa Fe Planetarium to study the planets, the fire station for community building, Depot Park for the history of Gainesville, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens for ecosystems to name a few. With so much parent participation, it is easy to do offsite learning and expand on the concepts learned in class.
Our son started at B’nai Israel Community Day School mid-year and instantly found himself at home. B’nai has nurtured and encouraged positive behaviors, great learning habits, and the concept of helping others. It has fostered a real excitement for Judaism. We could not imagine having our son in a better environment and look forward to next year.
The Elementary School at B’nai Israel Community Day School is phenomenal. The small class sizes and tight-knit community of teachers and staff fosters a cohesive and safe environment. My child learned to read and write, add and subtract, and how to make challah, all through the Elementary School’s comprehensive academic and Judaics curriculum. I like that my child can learn in the classroom, as well as on the playground, in the school’s garden, and in the synagogue’s Kosher kitchen. Above all else, my child is very happy here.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about B'nai Israel Community Day School. I have been working here since 2014 and have loved every minute of it. I started off as a floater, to a substitute, and now a lead teacher. I've learned so many things about the Jewish culture/beliefs and ways of becoming a better person. This school encourages diversity, religious beliefs, family values, confidence and a overall since of pride in being the best person you can be. I would recommend this school to anyone who has young children.
